A tenant farmer's son is caught in the middle of owner-tenant disputes when he falls for the plantation owner's seductive daughter.

Sharecropper's son Marvin tries to help his community overcome poverty and ignorance. While working in the general store he learns that the owner has been cheating his tenants. Marvin Blake wants to rise from the hard life of tenant cotton farmers with education,! but plantation owner Norwood resists the idea until his daughter Madge intercedes. Marvin gets his education and becomes clerk in the company store, where he's caught in the middle of escalating owner-tenant disputes, and between seductive Madge and sweet tenant girl Betty.
